How much context may technology preserve before continuity becomes surveillance?
Why it matters
Continuity can reduce the burden of remembering while also creating a record more complete than the person intended.
The desire for continuity can make preservation sound inherently benevolent.
But memory has a boundary. A system that can reconstruct every context may also remove the ordinary human ability to let some moments recede.
